Privacy
Effective October 26, 2026
Things by Theodore LLC operates avianvisitors.com. This policy covers the website, frame services, and illustration bundles. Purchases at theodore.net are covered by the shop's privacy policy.
What we collect
Frame registration collects your email, frame identifier and name, source and display settings, and device diagnostics such as battery readings, firmware version, and connection timing. Settings may include a ZIP code, BirdWeather station ID, or custom source address. We use these records to prepare collages, manage frames through emailed sign-in links, and provide support.
If you choose occasional updates, we send your email address to Buttondown to subscribe you. You can unsubscribe using the link in an update.
If you contribute an illustration bundle, we collect your public GitHub ID and username, uploaded files, bundle details, license choice, and review history. Approved bundles and their creator attribution are public. Do not include private information in a submission.
We also process IP addresses and request information to run the service and limit abuse. If you contact us, we receive the information you send.
Who processes it
- Cloudflare hosts the website, frame services, and stored records and files.
- Resend delivers frame sign-in emails and bundle review notifications. Buttondown manages optional email updates.
- BirdWeather receives station IDs or area coordinates used to find bird detections. Zippopotam.us looks up the postal area you select. Custom sources receive requests at the address you provide.
- GitHub provides contributor sign-in, profile images, and workflows that process submitted bundles. Sign-in uses your public profile and does not request repository access.
- OpenAI receives submitted illustrations and public bundle details for automated safety, bird, and style checks.
Browser storage and tracking
Browser storage keeps your frame sign-in token, bundle display preference, and unfinished bundle details. Bundle sign-in uses cookies. Clearing cookies and site storage can sign you out and remove saved preferences or drafts.
We do not change how the service works in response to Do Not Track signals. GitHub receives connection information when its profile images load. Its privacy statement describes service-usage data collection and, on some GitHub pages, collection of activity over time and across services. Other linked sites have their own privacy practices.
Your choices
You can update settings or release a frame on its management page. Release removes the email and settings from its active registration; it does not delete newsletter subscriptions or published bundles. Published files may also remain in copies downloaded by others.
To request access, correction, or deletion of your information, email support@theodore.net.
